The first thing you will notice about Ness Baptist is that we are nestled right into the community. With Sturgeon Heights high school right across the street, or our neighbor’s backyards sharing a back lane with us, Ness is a part of the St. James DNA. Walking into the church, everyone is greeted by warm, genuine smiles. Our greeters are greeters because they love greeting! The cafe area opens just before 10am with fresh ground coffee, tea, juice, and usually some homemade cookies. With children scurrying between legs, youth of all generations (especially our seniors) catch up on how the week was and take time to pray for each other. This is a great opportunity to be welcomed into the fabric of the Ness family, sharing stories and struggles with each other, we are a community committed to loving God and loving each other. It is also common to see a few military uniforms in the crowd. Ness is only a 5 minute drive from 17 Wing base, making us a natural landing strip for Canadian Forces service people and their families. Children are signed in downstairs in their Sunday school programs and nursery before the service begins. We practice the Lord’s supper once a month together following the sermon. At Ness, we are committed to walking through the Bible in a book by book, expositional way. Our current sermon series as well as past teaching can be found under our resources tab, or by clicking the button below.
The service typically wraps up around 12:00 noon with a final song. Most people hang around, enjoying conversation and discussion afterward, while the pastors and elders are always available for prayer at the front of the church. We would love to meet you and welcome you into our community at Ness! Interested in what happens throughout the rest of the week? Visit our Ministries page.
