A Weekly update for our Ness Community
OCTOBER 8, 2026
☼ HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
🚩💳 IMPORTANT: REGARDING GIVING THIS SUNDAY | This coming Weekend Assiniboine Credit Union will be merging with Westoba Credit Union. As a result of merging to a common banking system, we will not be able to receive e-transfers for donations from Friday at 6:30pm until Monday.
This will also affect our Special Thanksgiving Offering this weekend which will go towards the Ness Youth Retreat. If you are giving towards this be sure to **clearly mark** your giving for “Thanksgiving” or “Youth Retreat” and submit that in person, or outside of this window, as e-transfers sent in that window will be rejected by the Credit Union.
Thank you for your generosity and consideration as we navigate this disruption.🍽️ Sign Up for the Potluck in 2 weeks, on November 1
💧 If you have been considering Baptism let us know so we can prepare. We’ll reach out to you regarding baptism classes.
✍️Kelly May has been making handmade cards for Food Bank recipients. She is now looking for individuals who are willing to pick up some cards to sign with a handwritten note.
Food Bank will soon be starting their Christmas Drive. You can start signing up to bake cookies any time.

Our worship time begins with an opportunity for giving and to thank God for all He has provided for us.
Giving in person lets everyone take part and also models the practice of tithing to our children.
On the last Sunday of each month, we also take a benevolent offering. These funds are used to help individual needs within our community. Benevolent offerings should be clearly marked for Benevolence so that we can allocate them accordingly.
Individuals who wish to give in person should include your name and address on your envelope so a number can be assigned to you. Tax receipts are sent in January following the calendar year.
-
Each week we read a congregational reading together.
We are currently going through reading a portion from the Psalms each week, for the Summer. The Psalms serve to remind us of God’s faithfulness, and lead us to worship with joy and gratitude for the ways in which he works in our lives.
-
It is important for us to have our children see and learn the way we worship. It is also important for them to be given space to learn from the Bible in a way that is simple for them to understand, so that from a young age they can grow to know the mighty God that we gather for.
Children up to Grade 5 (Grade 3 in the Summer) begin in the service with us and then are dismissed to go to their classes after the congregational reading. Parents should take their children to Kidzone to sign them in.
Nursery is available for children up to age 3. The nursery is open before the service, and children are welcome to be checked into the Nursery at any time before or during the service. There is also a loft for parents with small children to watch and hear the service from a quiet space.
On Communion Sunday kids are dismissed a little earlier in the worship service so that they can join us again for communion. Parents will be dismissed to collect children before communion takes place, on these Sundays.
-
Each week one of our elders leads the church in a time of intercessory prayer for a specific need of our church or community.
-
Each week our Scripture is read by someone in our congregation who has been requested to serve in this way. Engaging our Ness Family is important to us.
We typically read from the English Standard Version (ESV) although sometimes other translations are used instead or as well.
-
Our message each week comes from the Bible. Usually messages at Ness are following a study through a certain book of scripture although we sometimes have guest speakers who will give a stand-alone message.
The following Series are currently running:
Pastor Jeremy (Lead Pastor)
The Way of Discipleship, The Gospel of MarkPastor Marcus (Associate Pastor)
Meeting God in Genesis, GenesisJairo Do Nascimento (Elder)
Beliefs & Behaviours, Titus -
The service closes with a benediction from the Pastor or Speaker. After the service many people mingle and fellowship.
PRAYER IS AVAILABLE AFTER THE SERVICE
at the front of sanctuary
Nothing replaces meeting together as a church, but if you aren’t able to join us, use this livestream link to watch at home:

VERSE 1
There's a reason why the curse of sin is broken
There's a reason why the darkness runs from light
There's a reason why we stand here now forgiven
Jesus is aliveVERSE 2
There’s a reason why we are not overtaken
There’s a reason why we sing on through the night
There’s a reason why our hope remains eternal
Jesus is aliveVERSE 3
There's a reason why our hearts can be courageous
There's a reason why the dead are made alive
There's a reason why we share His resurrection

Praise the King He's alive
Praise the King death's defeated
Hallelujah He's aliveBRIDGE
The grave could not ignore it
When all of heaven's roaring

Death where is your sting
The world could not ignore it
When all the saints are roaring
Hell where is your victory
Death where is your stingENDING
Hallelujah He’s alive
Hallelujah He’s alive
Hallelujah He’s alive -
He who was before there was light
Walked across the pages of time
He who made every living thing
Behold Him
He who heard humanity's cry
Left His throne to wake as a child
He became like the least of us
Behold HimCHORUS
Jesus Son of God Messiah
The Lamb the roaring Lion
Oh be still and behold HimVERSE 2
He who dined with sinners and saints
Healed the blind the lost and the lame
Even now He is in our midst

Paid with blood to settle our debt
Buried death as He rose to life
Behold HimCHORUS
Jesus Son of God Messiah
The Lamb the roaring Lion

Jesus Alpha and Omega
Our God the risen Savior
Oh be still and behold HimVERSE 3
Holy holy holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Worthy worthy worthy
To receive all praise -
I am an instrument
of exaltation
And I was born to lift
Your name above all names
You hear the melody
of all creation
But there's a song of praise
that only I can bringCHORUS
Who else is worthy?
Who else is worthy?
There is no one,
only You, Jesus
Who else is worthy?
Who else is worthy?
There is no one,
only You, JesusVERSE 2
You are the infinite
God of the ages
Yet You chose to make
my heart Your dwelling place
You healed my brokenness,
showed me Your glory
So I have songs of thanks
not even angels singBRIDGE
Lamb of God, anointed one
Who was and is and is to come
Seated on the throne above
Holy, holy
Righteous One who shed His blood
You proved to us the Father's love
Jesus Christ, be lifted up

I know how the story ends
We will be with You again
You’re my Savior my defense

Behold Christ
As we enter into the fall thanksgiving season, we’re looking at a theme of Beholding Christ. This theme will carry us into our next season which will be Advent, with gratitude and awe. Expect to see this theme woven into our songs and our congregational readings over the coming months.
Here’s what we’re singing this Sunday:
KIDZ CORNER
KIDZONE UP TO GRADE 5!
Kidzone teachers have been hard at work preparing for the new season. This Sunday Kidzone starts back up for all kids ages 3-Grade 5. A reminder that Nursery is always available for children under 3.
Keep up with what’s happening in Kidzone and use these prompts to help prepare for this Sunday’s lesson.
CHILD DEDICATIONS
Child Dedications are a time to thank God for the gift of children and to commit to raising them in the ways of God. It also allows your church committment to make the same committment to lead and guide your children faithfully, and to pray for your family as you carry this responsibility. Sign Up if you would like to have your child dedicated at the next Child Dedication Service.
YOUTH
Ness Youth is for students in Grades 6-12. Detailed Youth Updates are available on the Youth Page
Regular Tuesday Night Youth and Sunday Morning Bible Studies have paused until fall. Special Summer Events are underway.

NOTICES

Our Thanksgiving offering, will be in support of our Ness Youth, and the upcoming Youth Retreat this winter.
This is a way that each of us can help to build into our young people and provide guidance for the generation that will come behind us. Our young people are a most important part of what happens next for the church, and investing in them is important Kingdom work that we have the privilege of participating in. Brennan has put together a short video to talk about the Youth Retreat that we will watch together on Sunday.

The following roles are currently available. SIGN UP TO SERVE HERE ►
The Audio/Video Team could use a couple more people to join the rotation. If this is something you feel God might be calling you to serve in, please speak to Krista Antonio and/or Jordan Dalzell. Reach out to the office for contact information if required.
Feeling Creative? The Creative Arts committee could be a great fit for you. This team helps support special events such as the Christmas Program. If this is something you’d like to use your gift for, reach out to Alyx or Markus Buhler, Donna Melsness, Cher Regehr, or Krista Antonio.
Our team we lovingly call the “Muscle Crew” could really use some extra hands for event setup. It’s usually a very quick task to setup or tear down but as the saying goes — “Many hands make light work”. If this is a way you can serve, speak to Jon Chapman or email the office to get connected.
The Coffee Bar could use an extra person to help with their ministry. This person should be gifted with hospitality, able to make light conversation with new guests, and a capable ambassador of our church.
KidZone is looking for a Classroom Helper. this is not a teaching role. This person would be helping with child and teacher needs as required. A vulnerable sector check will need to be ordered by the office before you can serve in this ministry.
-
We’re working on updating the Bulletin board in the foyer with opportunities to sign-up, and calendar items of what is coming up in the life of the church. Email the office if your ministry has an event you would like to have featured for the church, and let us know if information needs to be updated.
-

Simply Scan the QR on the Front of the Bulletin. If you require support please reach out to Pastor Marcus.

For this reason, we request that you please fill out THIS FORM ► when you have items to donate to the church. the appropriate ministry leaders can review your request and confirm if your donation can be used or would be better given to someone else who might need it.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Thanksgiving seems like a great time to commemorate this occasion with thanks to the Lord for so many blessings we have. Sign Up if you would like your child to be dedicated at this Service.

As the final quarter’s calendar takes shape, we’re looking ahead to a Baptism Sunday on December 6th. Baptism is a way of communicating that you have a new identity in Christ. If you are a believer and have not yet been baptized, but would like to, this is a date to consider. Sign Up if you would like to be baptized or to attend baptism classes to see if this is a step you would like to take. Baptism classes typically take place early on the Sundays leading up to the event. DETAILS HERE ►
PRAYER REQUESTS
If you have a prayer request let us know. We’ll circulate it in an email that is sent to church members on Tuesdays. Send updates as well so we can be encouraged as God answers prayer.
