Ness Baptist is a welcoming community for military personnel and their families.
Why Ness Baptist Church makes sense for military personnel and their families posted to Winnipeg:
Military Families are wonderfully special people. They can be like nomads, moving frequently or sometimes being able to extend a move to a city by accepting postings to several places in Winnipeg. There can be single people or young couples staying in Winnipeg for just over a year while attending the Navigation School or people who know that they will only be here for a four-year stint.
These people need to feel that they are welcome and belong right away. Most have experienced tremendous upheaval, or at least major transition, in their family’s life, so they need an anchor right away. They are looking for a church that has biblical doctrine, good music and sound teaching but they need to be valued and when applicable, feel that they can be part of the church, not just people filling pews. A stones throw from the 17 Wing Canadian Forces Base in Winnipeg, we are blessed with being the home church of many military families, both currently and throughout our history.
Below are testimonies from current Ness Baptist attendees.
We are leaving a wonderful church near our present CFB and need a church where we will be readily accepted.

"The first time we walked through the doors of Ness was like walking into one of our family’s homes. We were welcomed right away. Feeling like we are a part of the church family is one of the reasons why we continue to attend." - Kevin
"I was posted to Winnipeg last July. I spent the first month or so looking for a new church home, somewhere that "felt" the same as my last church in Trenton. From genuinely friendly greeters who welcomed me and spoke to me upon my first visit, to the music and Bible based messages, I knew I'd found it. The thing is, it's the people here that make Ness a church family. They've gone out of their way to make me and everyone that comes here feel welcome. One month after I started attending, I was able to join a worship team and am able to use my singing and guitar playing to praise the Lord." - Steve |
We are only going to be in Winnipeg for a short period so we need a good church where we could get connected right away.
"What really attracted us was the Small Groups. We were able to join a small group of people our own age which quickly helped us to feel a part of the church family." - Danny & Lisa (a recent Navigation School grad heading to CFB Comox):

We have children and they need to feel they have a place in the church. Youth and children's programs are a must.
"Military family posted from CFB Cold Lake 15 years ago. Our children have grown up in this church. They were small children when we arrived and although they are now university aged, they continue singing in the Sunday morning worship groups. Our oldest runs the Vacation Bible School. All three have been a positive Christian influence to other teens at the High School right across the street. The children’s programs and very active youth and young adult groups are wonderful and really gave our children a way to invite their friends to a church-run activity." - Fred & Nicole
"We started at Ness because I drove past it every day to and from work and saw the sign advertising the Vacation Bible School program. We stayed because of the great teaching and excellent sense of community! God is at work both in and through this community and it is a wonderful place to plug in and get connected!" - Tony: a SAR tech heading to CFB Greenwood. |
