Psalm 24 // Brennan Cattani

March 23, 2025

1. Psalm 24:1-2 and Psalm 93 both use water as symbology in extolling God. What are the various symbolic ways water is used in Scripture? What are seas or rivers (or waters) as used in these passages meant to represent?

2. How do you define the sovereignty of God and what is the foundation or basis of that sovereignty? Are there any limits to His sovereignty?

3. What type of person do Verses 3-6 describe? How do they point to Christ? How do they describe Christians? How did Jesus summarize this passage as a promise for us, recorded as a single verse in Matthew?

4. The sermon highlighted 4 common idols that mankind pursues. What were they? How can we know if we are pursuing these idols? Why do we often look for and chase after these idols?

5. What is the nature of sin then, if we look at sin in light of these 4 particular desires? How do we surrender these 4 desires to God and de-idolize them?

6. Why do verses 7-10 show God as a victorious warrior-king returning to his city? What do you think this points to?

7. A song we sang this past Sunday had this line in the chorus: “I’m fighting a battle You’ve already won.” What does this mean? How does this help us draw comfort in times of chaos, uncertainty and weakness?

8. How will regular prayer and fellowship with other believers help you struggle?
