Mark 5:1-20 // Jesus and the Problem of Evil // Pastor Jeremy Olfert

READ MARK 5:1-20-41
Consider these questions when reflecting on this message:

  1. Today's sermon highlighted that evil is both external (“out there”) and internal (“in here”).

Which aspect do you find harder to accept or deal with—evil in the world around you or evil within your own heart? Why?
How does understanding this change the way you view your need for Jesus?

  2. Jesus demonstrates complete authority over chaos, demons, and suffering.
Where in your life do you struggle to trust Jesus’ authority or control?
What would it look like to trust Him more fully in that specific situation?

  3. The townspeople begged Jesus to leave, while the healed man begged to follow Him.

Why do you think people sometimes resist Jesus even after seeing evidence of His power or goodness?
In your own life, are there areas where you are keeping Jesus at a distance? What is behind that?

  4. The healed man is sent to tell others how the Lord showed him mercy.

What is your personal “story” of how God has shown you mercy or changed your life?
Who in your circle (family, friends, coworkers) could you intentionally share that story with this week?

  5. The sermon emphasizes not just telling but showing transformation.

In what ways should a changed life be visible to others?
What is one practical way you can live differently this week so others can “see” the impact of Jesus in your life?
