READ MARK 7:1-23
Consider these questions when reflecting on this message:
Jesus said the Pharisees honored God with their lips while their hearts were far from Him. In what ways can this be a problem in our own lives?
The Pharisees elevated human traditions above God's commands. What personal preferences, traditions, or assumptions might you be tempted to treat as spiritual requirements for yourself or others?
Jesus taught that sinful actions flow from the heart. Do you think modern society would agree or disagree with Jesus on this point?
The Pharisees were quick to notice the faults of others while being blind to their own hearts. In what ways are you tempted to do the same?
Ezekiel 36 reminds us that only God can give us a new heart. What encouragement do you receive from this passage?
If you have placed your faith in Christ, you are a new creation. What is one practical way this week that you can live out your new identity in Christ rather than returning to old patterns of thinking or behavior?
