The Calling of Elisha // 1 Kings 19:19-21
10 November 2024
1. Where were you at in life when God called you to follow Christ? What did you think of God and Christians before hand?
2. What was the symbolic significance and meaning of Elijah “casting his cloak” upon Elisha? (Who was doing the calling?)
3. How did Elisha respond? What did each of his actions show what was significant or “costly” in his response?
4. What is the focus of our callings? God promises blessings with rich, full, meaningful, and purposeful lives if we die to self. How can this be true? Why must we be disciples?
5. 1 Cor 7:17-24 and Eph 2:8-10 discuss where we are when God calls us and what we are called for. How does God redeem our work and use it for His glory? Are there any menial jobs or insignificant people?
6. What is meant by the use of the word “workmanship” in Eph 2:10? How does this encourage you to press onward in following Christ?
