A Weekly update for our Ness Community
AUGUST 7, 2026
☼ HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
The theme of our Summer in the Psalms this week is “My Soul Praises Him”. Psalm 84:2 is part of our congregational reading this week. The psalmist says “My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.” Think about the ways God is working and has worked in your life, and carry those thoughts with you as we read these words together this Sunday.
🌎 A special Highlight - This week we’ll have a guest Missionary here to share an update!
📆 It’s August and that means September is just a month away and the calendars will soon start to fill. The events section is full of “Need to know items” or you can jump to the ministries you’re involved with to get details specific to you. EVENT UPDATES ►

Our worship time begins with an opportunity for giving and to thank God for all He has provided for us.
Giving in person lets everyone take part and also models the practice of tithing to our children.
On the last Sunday of each month, we also take a benevolent offering. These funds are used to help individual needs within our community. Benevolent offerings should be clearly marked for Benevolence so that we can allocate them accordingly.
Individuals who wish to give in person should include your name and address on your envelope so a number can be assigned to you. Tax receipts are sent in January following the calendar year.
-
Each week we read a congregational reading together.
We are currently going through reading a portion from the Psalms each week, for the Summer. The Psalms serve to remind us of God’s faithfulness, and lead us to worship with joy and gratitude for the ways in which he works in our lives.
-
It is important for us to have our children see and learn the way we worship. It is also important for them to be given space to learn from the Bible in a way that is simple for them to understand, so that from a young age they can grow to know the mighty God that we gather for.
Children up to Grade 5 (Grade 3 in the Summer) begin in the service with us and then are dismissed to go to their classes after the congregational reading. Parents should take their children to Kidzone to sign them in.
Nursery is available for children up to age 3. The nursery is open before the service, and children are welcome to be checked into the Nursery at any time before or during the service. There is also a loft for parents with small children to watch and hear the service from a quiet space.
-
Each week one of our elders leads the church in a time of intercessory prayer for a specific need of our church or community.
-
Each week our Scripture is read by someone in our congregation who has been requested to serve in this way. Engaging our Ness Family is important to us.
We typically read from the English Standard Version (ESV) although sometimes other translations are used instead or as well.
-
Our message each week comes from the Bible. Usually messages at Ness are following a study through a certain book of scripture although we sometimes have guest speakers who will give a stand-alone message.
The following Series are currently running:
Pastor Jeremy (Lead Pastor)
The Way of Discipleship, The Gospel of MarkPastor Marcus (Associate Pastor)
Meeting God in Genesis, GenesisJairo Do Nascimento (Elder)
Beliefs & Behaviours, Titus -
The service closes with a benediction from the Pastor or Speaker. After the service many people mingle and fellowship.

FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Pastor Jeremy Olfert
Pastor Jeremy is back this week to continue our study in the book of Mark, so bring your Gospel of Mark Journal and let’s continue learning this week.
There is still one more copy of the Gospel of Mark ESV Illuminated study Journal available. If you didn’t get a chance to purchase one earlier, or perhaps you started coming to Ness after we started this series, and would like one, they were available for $5. You can speak to Lydia or email the office to arrange to get the last copy.
KIDZ CORNER
Not just for kids!
Adults and kids alike are welcome to download the coloring pages, watch the videos, and keep up with what’s happening in KidZone this summer. It’s a really beautiful curriculum from the creators of the Biggest Bible Storybook, and they’re learning about the prophets. Don’t worry, it’s not a spoiler. The class doesn’t intend to use these parts regularly so it is just a fun way to keep engaged at home over the summer, and hopefully spark some great dinner table conversations with your families.
COMING UP IN KIDZONE

KidZone Fall Start Includes Kids up to Grade 5 for the School Year
KidZone Helper Training and safety meeting, after church. Lunch will be provided.
CHILD DEDICATIONS
Psalm 127:3 says “Children are a gift from the Lord”. Child dedications are an opportunity to thank God for the blessing of children, to recognize and commit this gift to His care, and to commit to raising our children in His ways, with the help of our church family. The church also joins in this commitment to love, support, and pray for the children of our Ness community.
If you are interested in having your child DEDICATED, please fill out this form to let us know ►

Our team we love to call the “Muscle Crew” could really use some extra hands for event setup. It’s usually a very quick task to setup or tear down but as the saying goes — “Many hands make light work”. If this is a way you can serve, speak to Jon Chapman or email the office to get connected.
-
This team could use a couple more people to join the rotation. If this is something you feel God might be calling you to serve in, please speak to Krista Antonio and/or Jordan Dalzell. Reach out to the office for contact information if required.
-
Helping Hands has paused until fall. This group meets on Thursdays bi-weekly for coffee, fellowship & crafting. Bring a project or join in on quilt making projects supporting local groups in need. Contact Debbie Giesbrecht, Marilyn Walde or the office to connect for the fall.
-
Life Groups are now on break for the summer, and will resume in the fall. If you are not currently in a life group, email the office to get connected in a Life Group this fall. Life Groups are a great way to grow in faith through fellowship with other believers in your church family. If you’d like to host a group in the fall, those opportunities are available as well. We’d love to hear from you. A special thank you to all of our current Life Group Hosts and Leaders!
Want to serve, but need an introduction to a ministry leader? Contact the office to be introduced and make the connection!
♫ WORSHIP SPACE
SUMMER IN THE PSALMS
Our worship teams are leading us through the Psalms this summer as we worship together. We’re choosing songs inspired by the Psalms, and for our congregational readings we will read Psalms together. Do you know a song that reflects on, or is inspired by the Psalms? Email Krista or the office to share your song suggestion.
