The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares // Matthew 13: 24-30

January 26, 2025

1. Explain what each of these elements of the Parable represent:

the sower; the seed; the field; the wheat; the weeds; the harvest; the reapers; burning the weeds; the barn.

2. The weeds are thought to be Tares or Darnel. Why is this particular weed such a threat and difficult to recognize?

3. Why won’t the Master of the House allow the servants to pull and gather the weeds? What does this say about the nature of God and God’s Kingdom: (1) in our times today; and, (2) in the future?

4. How is the wheat able to grow and survive until harvest? How do we live and wait until the harvest, i.e., what does God call for in us?

5. Explain how we can change and continually receive what we need to grow and flourish in the field. How are you hindered in changing and acquiring what you need?
