The Gift of Sight // 2 Kings 6
May 11, 2025
1. When you became Christian, how did God open your eyes and ears? What did you realize about yourself and the world around you?
2. One major theme in the Bible is God opening our eyes (revelation.) Why do we need God to remove our blindness? (See also Luke 4:17-21; 2 Cor 4:4; 1 John 2:11.) Is it just a one time thing?
3. Why do you think God helped the King of Israel get away from the King of Syria, especially through Elisha? Why did He not just execute judgement on Israel?
4. Why do you think God did not execute judgement on the Syrian army? What does the treatment of the vulnerable Syrian army show us about God’s character and His attributes? What was the result? How does Jesus treat His “enemies”? (See also Romans 5:8-11.)
5. Elisha said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Are you always aware of God’s constant presence and protection in your life? How do you actively seek and welcome His presence? Do we need to see chariots of fire?
6. How should we deal with our blind spots? How do you think the church can help?
7. Knowing your great salvation, your heavenly protection and your glorious destiny, how should that affect your interaction with people you see as “enemies”-people who have hurt you, reviled you, rebuked you or just plain disagree with you?
8. How would constantly asking God to reveal to us the depth and depravity of our sin and to reveal the depth of His grace and mercy make the Gospel seem like really good news? Would it help up us to trust and obey Him more?
