Are there things that have happened in your past that are still having a negative impact on your life today? Sometimes, we are painfully aware of these past traumas. Other times, they are very well hidden. Often, we have blocked them out to avoid the pain they cause.
There are many ways people avoid or numb pain. Oftentimes, it is through addictions of some kind. Addictions can wear many faces, but they all serve to distract you or to “numb you out” so you don’t have to feel the hurt that runs deep inside. The only problem is, it begins to take more and more of the substance or behavior of choice to achieve this. Other times people become depressed and suicidal. At that point, things seem hopeless and it is hard to find a reason to live. Some survive, but many succumb. So what is the answer? If you are in this situation, where do you turn? There are many resources out there that can help you, but are they all successful in providing the help that is needed to heal? God does work through people, so by all means, examine those options. However, God is the only one who can fill that “Hole in the soul”. He is the Great Healer. In fact, He loves us so much that he sacrificed His son, Jesus, on the Cross so that our sins may be forgiven and we might have everlasting life through Him. A few paragraphs are not enough to tell the whole story, so what do you need to know? You are loved! You don’t have to be perfect to accept God’s Grace. (In fact, as humans, none of us are perfect.) The Holy Spirit can work miracles in your life. In fact, He already has. Through all of your tribulations, torment and challenges, you are still here right now. You are reading this right now, so you have not given up. You are still seeking . Things may not change overnight (although they can), but you need to take the first step of the journey to wholeness. Join us every Sunday at 10:30. We talk about real hope for life in the real world.
