If you can take a winter vacation this year, where would you go and what would you do? Why do you think those are good choices?
The Dedication of the Temple was a huge affair at the time. The Temple was now fixed, furnished and permanent. The Ark was brought into it. The priests saw the Glory of the Lord filled it. It took place during the time of the Feast of Booths. And there was a huge feast. How did the ceremony and Solomon’s Benediction recount and reflect what God had promised Israel and the reason for it? (There were 4 things discussed in the sermon derived from v 54-62.)
How does the ceremony and Solomon’s Benediction (v 54-62) foreshadow or anticipate the coming Kingdom and what God has promised us?
Israel had peace and prosperity on all sides at the time of the Temple Dedication. However, Hebrews 4:8-13 points out that there is still a Sabbath rest for the people of God. What is meant by this? Can we enter it now or do we wait?
Why does God care about our heart and character (v 58)? Wouldn’t just consistent obedience and rule following be sufficient to endear ourselves to Him, despite our heart and character? Why is constant confession, repentance, and forgiveness important?
How do you think the outside world sees the church today? What can we pray and what steps can we take to change any negative views? (Meditate on 1 Corinthians 13 and Galatians 5:22-26 this week.)
